Discussion Question 1 (Week 2)

Discussion Question 1 (Week 2)

Denny and Howie believe that their Principal, Dr. Lomister, is a Nazi spy. What are some of the clues from Chapters 2-4 that lead them to think this (use specific examples from the book)? Do YOU think he is a spy too, why or why not (explain your thinking)?
There are TWO parts to this question, don't forget to answer BOTH

Make sure to write in complete sentences using a RAD response. You should use specific examples from the book to support your answer. Make sure to answer all parts of the question and edit your work before posting it to the site. Type it in your blogging doc first so you don't lose your work and can go back and edit. 1. Some of the clues that Dr. Lomister is a spy are that Howie sees him on a random house's stoop on his way to school. What's weird is that Dr. Lomister is always telling people to get to school early and he is breaking his own rule. Another reason Howie thinks Dr. Lomister is a spy is because when he is in the basement he is looking around and he sees filing cabinets. From the comics that Howie has read, the FBI agent or the super hero always finds criminal evidence in filing cabinets. Also when Howie goes to open the basement door, it doesn't budge and that proves that the people living in the house have something to hide. Back home Howie kept all his doors open.

I do not think Dr. Lomister is a spy because even though Howie found him at a strange house, it was not Dr. Lomister's house so he would not have locked the doors, and Howie does not have any actual real proof that Lomister is a spy. Howie only knows Lomister wants to fire his teacher which has nothing to do with the war

    1. I totally agree why because his principal sometimes acts like he doesn't care about this country but that doesn't make him a Nazi spy but then again he may be from anther state in the world.

  2. The only clue I get from chapters 2-4 is the Dr. Lomister doesn't have a good reason why he is participating in the war effort. Howie and Denise guess that he may have flat feet, but nothing else should keep him out of the war.

I don't think there is enough evidence to support Dr. Lomister is spy yet. The boys have theories, but nothing concrete.

    1. I agree because there is not enough evidence to support your answer.

  3. Howie and Denny think that their principal is a Nazi spy here are some reasons he doesn't stand for the pledge of allegiance, and they say that there are Nazi spies in the state of the u.s. I think that their principal is not a Nazi spy. Why because it is like what their teacher said, “There are no Nazi spies in the area.” and he said, “We are safe in this great country.” so that could mean that he was born in the united states. And he fired his teacher because there was a law that you have to fire a teacher if they are going to have a baby.

    1. Brody I like your paragraph and how it explains the chapters that we have read so far and why that Danny and Hawie we think that printable Lomister is a Nazi spy. I like that it explains so much but one thing the United States is not a state it's a country also it has not said that Miss Gossum is going to have a baby.

    2. Brody I like that you added why you think he isn't a spy and you explain your thinking on your idea. Also, your clues give good explanation how he might be a spy. Also, you are right that he only fired Miss Gossim because she is having a baby.

  4. The reason why I think that Howie and Denny think that principal Lomister is a Nazi spy. First, principal Lomister is a Nazi spy is he is vary suspicious he's the first person to school every day. Last, principal Lomister wants to fire miss Gossim and she is one of his best teacher.
I think that principal Lomister is not a Nazi spy because. first , he’s the principal so it’ not weird that he gets to school first. Next, miss Gossim was not following the rules. Last, principal Lomister has not don anything wrong Yet.

    1. I agree because we have no evidence that he is a spy. But, your evidence makes sence.

  5. Pt2. I don’t think the principal is a spy. If he is a spy he would be sent to the school five months before the war. He would be acting all suspicious and would keep on going into people's classes.

Pt1. One of the clues is that the principal is making so many rules Howie just thinks he needs company. In my opinion Denny is weird and crazy. Maybe he is a spy because if he is so mean and weird but I am still on the no side. If he were a spy he would be going into classrooms a lot and doing other things normal principals don’t do.

  6. I think that Howie and Denny think Dr. Lomister is a Nazi spy because he is really mean and he sneaks around according to the book, it says that he did not stand for the pledge of allegiance and he was walking up a road. No I don’t think that lomister is a Nazi spy because there is not enough evidence to support this and miss Gossim says he's not.

  7. The clues from Chapters 2-4 that lead us to think Dr. Lomister is a spy is that for some reason Lomister didn’t join the army for America. I don’t think he is a spy because there isn’t enough evidence to prove he is a spy for the Nazis and without proof it just means that he is a normal person who wants to be a principal at a school and that's my case.
